The Epitome of Cool
Austin Giorgio is the epitome of cool! Generally, I see it as a way for them to compensate for something lacking when people wear hats and shades while performing, but when these guys wear it, it is just a part of them and quite natural. The jackets, shades, hats, dance(of sorts), synchronized guitar moves and steps, and fur guitars all compliment the spectacular talent. Every aspect of the production of this show was excellent: the banter, the integration of the video, the sparseness of the stage that put the focus on the performers(quite unlike the Worldwide Texas Tour), the costumes, and the synchronized movements added up to an excellent show. If their music and talent wasn't such a known quantity of greatness, I wouldn't be discussing the "coolness" factor, but I must. There may well be a better guitar player than Billy Gibbons, but when you reach a certain level that he has reached it is hard to discriminate who is the best. Is there a better guitar player than Billy Gibbons? Gibbons' talents may, but shouldn't, overshadow his bandmates, Hill and Beard. How three people can make so much music is mind-blowing. I couldn't complete this review without mentioning the opening act, The Ben Miller Band. Trombone, Spoons, Washboard, Washtub Bass, Drums, tambourine, maracas, harmonica, guitar, and other stringed instruments. They were worth the price of admission alone. They have possibly bested Austin Giorgio in music to musician ratio. I asked above how three people could make so much music, and I must say take the time to look these guys up.
